About the Archives
Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada, Ontario Council Archives collects and preserves records and artifacts that document the history of Guiding in Ontario from its beginnings to the present. Records are donated by members or transferred from staff, then described and made accessible as resources to explore and learn about the Guiding movement and its impact on communities throughout Ontario.
Materials include:

Collections and Finding Aids
The following are the currently available finding aids for collections in the Archives:

Research Services - please note, this service is currently unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions
GGCOC Archives offers a variety of research services. You can either
book an appointment to visit the Archives or
have the research conducted by the Archivist via correspondence. In the Archives you can view photographs, unit log books, minutes, old publications including program books, Guider biographies, camp records, old badges and pins, uniforms, and much more.
Here’s a list of some potential research subjects:

- Badges/insignia
- Women’s movement in Canada
- Property history (camps, stores, area offices, etc.)

*The name Brownies was changed to Embers in January of 2023. The use of
the name Brownies in these materials is for archival purposes.
