E-Learning: Using a PIN
Download PIN Order form

E-Learning is a form of training that is done online for new Guiders who are unable to attend a face-to-face training for Safe Guide, Orientation or Foundation Modules.

What is a PIN?
PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. Contact adult.admin@guidesontario.org about how to obtain a PIN.

Can more than one person use a PIN?
No, the PINs will be given a value - such as $5 or $10, so the participants will only be able to access the number of modules that are associated with their PIN. The certificates will be generated for the participant who signed in using the PIN.

How will National track the PIN numbers given to participants?

National will be able to run reports on all participants in the e-learning modules. Since the participants will sign in with their name and e-mail address we will know who is using which PIN number.

How is e-Learning set-up?
E-Learning is set-up in modules. Guiders will be asked to select one of 3 options:
1. Safe Guide Module
2. Orientation Module
3. Foundation Modules

Who pays for E-learning?
In Ontario, Ontario Council funds E-learning PINs for adult members for the above mentioned modules.

What if I order online using my credit card?
You are free to order on-line with your credit card but, you will not be reimbursed.

What if someone doesn't complete a module after they have started?
Only those who have completed a course will be issued a certificate. If a participant starts a module and does not complete it, they have the option to bookmark it and go back in. If the module is never completed, Ontario Council will still be charged for that module.

Do you enter your iMIS number when you sign in?
Participants will not enter their iMIS number when they sign in. They will be asked to enter their name, address, phone number and e-mail address. National is working with the Learning Library to add this to the login page and on the certificate.

Do new Guiders have to fax/send in their certificates to iMIS to get credit for the modules taken?

No, the Guider's iMIS record will be automatically updated by National periodically throughout the year. It is suggested that they keep a copy of the confirmation for their own files.

Can Guiders do an e-Learning module together as a group?
Yes, if a group of Guiders would like to sit in front of a computer and take the modules together they may do so. However, after the group has completed the module, Guiders must go to the start of the module and skip through the sections and complete the scenarios and self-assessments so that they can print their own individual certificate.
