Ontario Council Interprovincial and International Independent Travel Subsidy
To promote Independent Group Travel by Units and trips organized by Local Specialty
Communities the following Travel Subsidy Program will be in place for 2010.
There are no Ontario sponsored trips in 2010 so that we
can maximize Ontario Unit participation in GM 2010. New for 2010 is
the availability of this subsidy for interprovincial as well as international trips.
Requests must be received a minimum of 2 months prior to the trip.
Available Subsidy:
• $100 per girl Member participant
• Subsidy of adult Member participants will be limited to $100
per adult required by ratio. Any other adult participants beyond ratio will
not receive subsidy.
The Travel Subsidy will be awarded based on the application
approval and on a ‘first come, first receive’ basis
until the maximum monies in the travel subsidy budget has
been reached.
This subsidy does not apply to National GGC sponsored
trips or future Ontario Adventure Trips offered by Ontario
Council.
Criteria for Receiving the Travel Subsidy:
In keeping with the current Travel Subsidy Program, the Responsible Guider
of each Independent Group Trip will be required to complete an application
and submit it upon receiving their final trip approval as per Safe Guide
requirements.
• The trip must be a girl trip and at least 75%
of the participants must be girls
• The trip must be Provincially approved as per the Safe Guide
• Participation in all cookie campaigns from the time the IT.2-Intent to
Travel is approved for International Trips and from the start of the trip planning
for Interprovincial Trips.
• The International trip must be over 72 hours in length
• The Interprovincial trip must be over 72 hours in length
• This subsidy cannot be refunded should parents/Guiders overpay trip costs
• Units must be actively using centralized banking to receive the subsidy

Important Message for 2010 Trip Planners
To ensure maximum support of GM 2010, national GGC has stated that independent
international and interprovincial trips are strongly discouraged during 2010.Trips
that have been given prior provincial approval may continue.
GM 2010 should be the first choice of destination for
all other groups considering travel in 2010. Any new
requests for independent travel must include clear
rationale why the trip is planned for 2010 rather than for another year as
well as what will be the participants’ involvement in GM 2010, if any?
