Join our Scholarship Review Committee

Help our members further their education by reviewing applications for the Isabel Kerr Scholarship. The Review Committee requires approximately 10-12 hours of your time during the month of April. The application deadline is March 12th, 2020. Rangers and adult members are eligible to apply.

Announcing Ontario Council's new tent loaning program

We're making it easier for girls to get outdoors. Starting on March 24th, 2020, units and girl-focused events can borrow tents for just $5 per tent. It's easy! Just fill out the form and we'll get the tents to you. Questions? Contact on-tentloaning@girlguides.ca. Bonus! We're making tents available at all GGCON properties where they were not previously supplied.

Earn the new STEMinist Challenge
to all adult members and Rangers
Hold onto your lab coat! If you love asking questions, designing experiments and pushing the limits of your imagination, then this limited-time challenge is for you. Girls who complete the challenge will also be working towards program badges. This challenge is only available until the end of June.

Where do earthworms go in the winter?
to all adult members and Rangers
Earthworms burrow deep down under a warm blanket of soil and curl up for warmth. When you are feeling like an earthworm in the winter, you can still work towards the Earthworm section of the Happy Trails Challenge. Many of the activities can be completed indoors. Check out all of the challenge requirements and the crest!

Parents Volunteering at Unit Meetings and Camps
to all adult members
Have you invited parents to assist at upcoming unit meetings or a camp? If so, please have them complete and submit their A.7 Non-Member Volunteer Application Form today! Once their application is received, they will be prompted to complete their Police Record Check (PRC). Our partnership with Sterling BackCheck provides parents with a secure check at a reduced rate, however, if a local police check is being provided, the process could take a few weeks. Safe Guide paperwork is required a minimum of two weeks before your event. To ensure any parents who are participating as Unit Assistants have their PRC on file in time for upcoming events and unit meetings, have them submit their A.7 to on-membershipscreener@girlguides.ca today!

Potential Members for your Unit

Do you have an individual currently undergoing the screening process, intending to join your unit? Encourage them to take the necessary steps (booking their interview, completing their Police Record Check and reference invitation) to complete the process! It is important to note that if you require the individual to take part in an upcoming event or unit meeting, they do need to be a fully screened member before they can participate! You can tell that the entire screening process has been completed when they appear on your unit roster. "

March Break deliveries

While we do try our best to avoid delivery over the week of March break, due to the availability of the transport companies and time required to complete all deliveries in Ontario, some communities have deliveries scheduled on March 14th and 21st.

New Outdoor Experiences this spring! Check out TRCA Kortright Centre and YMCA Bonnenfant Outdoor Education and Leadership Centre

Located 10 minutes north of Toronto, on 325 hectares of pristine woodlands, the Kortright Centre for Conservation combines a natural oasis with some of the most leading-edge sustainable education programs and events in Canada. YMCA Bonnenfant Outdoor Education and Leadership Centre is located on 30 acres of field, forest, trails and rugged shoreline on the Ottawa River. A transportation subsidy may be available to units that require financial assistance to get their girls to an Outdoor Experience. Check out the FAQs for complete details.

Exciting travel opportunity - Europe 2022
to ACLs, ACL Advisers and Pathfinder and Ranger Unit Guiders and Community Guiders in communities 8, 9 and 21
The 1st Brantford Rangers are bus tripping in Europe in 2022 and we are looking for a few more Pathfinders and Rangers to join us. The girls will need to be able to get to Brantford for fundraising and monthly trip meetings. We will be visiting Our Chalet, the Guiding World Centers in Switzerland. The girls will have an opportunity to help plan the trip and decide which countries they want to see.

Don't miss out on this very popular camp! Are you a Pathfinder or Ranger looking to travel with other Guiding members? We are the 4th BC Soar and the 6th BC Soar 2020 Independent Trip units and we have one space available for a Pathfinder and one space available for a Ranger. Unit Guider appointment pins are mailed out weekly only to Guiders who are new to their specific branch level. Watch your mail, a pin could be coming to you!

Do you know a member who has gone above and beyond?
to all adult members
Please consider nominating them for a Guiding award to let them know how much they are appreciated. Did you know that award applications are reviewed by members, just like you? Depending on the nature of the award, it can take up to eight weeks to review and approve, so remember to allow time for processing.

iMIS updates for girls
to all Pathfinder and Ranger Unit Guiders and Community Guiders
If you have Pathfinders or Rangers in your unit that completed their Canada Cord or Trail Blazer Leadership Award - Gold Award in the 2019-2020 Guiding year, complete the iMIS update form for all girls in your unit by August 31st, 2020. Submitting by the deadline will ensure that the awards girls earned this year will be updated and they will receive their certificates by mail by the end of 2020.
