The application deadline for the NL Ranger Award has been extended until Monday, April 15.
NL provincial youth awards provide an opportunity to recognize youth members for their commitment to our organization. Applications are due by April 8 and the recipients will be announced at our provincial year-end meeting and celebration on May 4. Please see the award criteria below.
Newfoundland and Labrador council has developed this award to recognize the efforts of outstanding Indigenous youth members of our organization. Awards will be given annually to one member in each of the following branch groups: Sparks/Embers, Guides/Pathfinders, and Rangers.
The award consists of a certificate, crest, and monetary prize.
The design was created by Sera T. from the 1st Chamberlains Ranger unit. The colors used in the flower represent colors of First Nations & Inuit flags in NL. The detailing on the map of Labrador is inspired by traditional Inuit tattoo designs, and the detail on the map of Newfoundland is inspired by traditional First Nations designs.
Girl Guides of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Council has developed the following criteria to recognize the efforts of an outstanding youth member of the organization.

The award consists of a plaque and monetary prize for the recipient.
Girl Guides, Newfoundland and Labrador Council, has developed this award to commemorate the four-year term of our past Provincial Commissioner, Kay Penney. This award recognizes the efforts of an outstanding girl or youth member who exemplifies a true love of Guiding.
The award will consist of a framed certificate for the award recipient and a perpetual plaque for GGCNL provincial office.

The Lady Baden-Powell award is the highest award girls can earn in the Guides program. Completing this award takes at least two years and requires a dedicated effort towards completing the program, as well as participating in patrol and unit activities. This award provides girls with the opportunity to learn more about Girl Guides and gain a deeper understanding of the sisterhood of Guiding. If girls successfully complete the award requirements, they will earn the award in their final year of Guides.
Over the three years of Pathfinders, the girls may choose to complete one, two or all three of the awards available for this branch. Some things can be done independently, others can be done in groups. If girls choose to complete the Canada Cord, the highest Pathfinder award, they’ll complete all three awards in the process.
Over the three years of Rangers, the girls may choose to complete one, two or all of the awards available for this branch. Some things can be done independently, others can be done in groups. If girls choose to complete the Trailblazer Gold Leadership award, the highest Ranger award, they’ll complete all five awards in the process.
Effective May 2023, under the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's external high school credits program, youth members who complete their Silver and Gold Trailblazer Awards can now earn external high school credits!
